Llangefni Site Capacity Expansion

Glanbia Cheese, Europe's leading mozzarella producer continues to invest in its cutting edge production facilities and technology.

October saw the completion of a £3.5 million investment to extend Llangefni's cheese brining system, to further boost the Mozzarella manufacturing capacity, and provide additional capacity to meet continued growth in customer demand for our range of shredded products.

This project was part of an ongoing investment program that has increased cheese production capacity at Llangefni and lays the foundations for further capacity increases over the next 5 years. 

Site work on this project began in March with the civil work to extend and alter the production building to accommodate the brine extension in tandem with the construction of the services building extension for the new refrigeration equipment.

The site ran the project using the principles of the PRINCE2 project management method. This approach helped ensure the project was completed on time and on budget.

Commenting on the successful commissioning of the investment Chief Executive Paul Vernon paid tribute to the contribution of all staff in the delivery of this project on time and on budget, "which will enable the business to continue to strengthen its relationships with customers in the UK and Europe".
