Completion of latest multi-million pound investment in Llangefni

Great News for North Wales, and the Welsh Dairy Industry, with Glanbia Cheese's latest multimillion investment now in place and commitment to continue to invest into the future.

Glanbia Cheese are a local success story, buying and processing circa 20% of all Welsh milk. What may really surprise you is what they make with it. They are Europe's largest manufacturer of mozzarella cheese, primarily for the pizza industry, meaning Wales is one of the premier mozzarella producing nations in Europe. In fact every time you order a pizza to be delivered, you are probably helping support the Welsh dairy industry.

To remain the best they have recently completed  their  four year  investment programme for the Llangefni site that has seen a  £7 million+ investment in the Llangefni plant in 5 key steps:

1)     Upgrade of the brine belt, significantly boosting site capacity.

2)     Investment in new technology and site infrastructure

3)     Construction of 'lifestyle' block, incorporating on-site health and catering facilities.

4)     Upgrading of innovation kitchen facility

5)     New offices, admin centre, and meeting rooms

Albert Owen, Anglesey  MP, visited the Llangefni site on  31 Jan to officially open the new office and meeting facilities, and to tour the capital investments, including the Innovation Kitchen, to taste the future of pizza. He commented:

"I welcome the opportunity to open the new facilities at Glanbia's Llangefni site. Glanbia's commitment to the site is important to the local economy and wider Welsh milk/farming industry. The end product

is a high standard pizza and I pay tribute to all involved with production here on the Isle of Anglesey."

Paul Vernon, Glanbia Cheese's Chief Exec commented:

"Investing in our facilities makes business sense, but is also good for the farmers who supply us with milk, as they know we are continuing to grow our business well into the future. The dairy farmers are not only the backbone of this country but are also our long term partners"

Glanbia Cheese also confirmed that the next phase of investment planning is already underway.  The future looks bright for British mozzeralla.
