Glanbia Cheese is committed to the continuous development of our employees and understand that every team member plays a vital part within the business.  The need to operate with a highly talented and multi-skilled team is central to the growth and success of the company.

In 2019 we partnered with Lantra and Food Skills Cymru.

The main emphasis was to focus on the development of the skill level of our team members in their current job roles. We continue to work with the local college to deliver bespoke technical food safety training with an aim to develop the team’s knowledge and understanding of both legal compliance and site-specific training. Since we embarked on the training programme with Lantra two years ago, we have developed and enhanced the skills and knowledge of team members with 264 targeted courses with an investment of £75,000.

Nomination & Award

This year was the first time that the Food Skills Cymru programme has had a category in the Lantra Cymru Awards.

This category of award was to recognise food and drink manufacturing businesses that have undertaken training through the Food Skills Cymru programme over the last two years, investing in their employees and upskilling individuals in a variety of training programmes.

The awards are now in their 27th year and were held at Metropole Hotel, Llandrindod Wells.  The Minister for Rural Affairs, North Wales & Trefnydd, Lesley Griffiths pre-recorded a short message which was transmitted during the presentation ceremony, congratulating all the 2021 winners and nominees.

The Food Skills Cymru awards comprised of 3 categories: Large Businesses; SME (small and medium-sized enterprises) Businesses and Micro Businesses.
