Carol Butters and JP Thomas throw down the health gauntlet
'If you want to run, run a mile. If you want to experience a different life run a marathon'. Emile Zatopek
Glanbia Cheese extends its warmest congratulations to Carol Butters and JP Thomas who each recently undertook the marathon, each with an equally inspirational story.
Carol had tried unsuccessfully to be drawn in the ballot for the London marathon, before winning the opportunity this year. Prior to this the longest that she had run was a 10k. Her grit and determination was demonstrated by finishing despite picking up an injury mid-way through, raising almost £2,000 for Macmillan cancer research.
JP Thomas was not planning to run at all but seeing the unfolding tragedy in Nepal, realised he wanted to do something. With a mere six weeks to train, he signed up for the Belfast marathon and managed to raise almost £1,000 for people in need of our help.
