Glanbia Cheese hosted key Georgian agri-food players

Visit objectives:

The visit to Glanbia Cheese was hosted by Bruce Jones, Cheese Manager, Carys Jones, Processing Manager and Luci Heeley, Technical Manager.  They were welcomed with a short presentation about the Company and site, followed by pizzas and then a site tour.

The delegation, which consisted of Georgian food and drink producers, farmers, British Embassy staff, government officials and even a news crew, was hosted by Grŵp Llandrillo Menai's Food Technology Centre at Llangefni.

The ambitious 5 day itinerary also included visits to other agrifood producers, and the Welsh Government office at Llandudno Junction to find out more about policy and the business growth mechanisms in place to support Welsh food and drink producers and manufacturers. Here they also discussed the contribution that food and drink production and tourism makes to the regional and national economy.

Paul Vernon CEO commented,

As the UK's leading cheese exporter we were pleased and honoured to host so many prestigious visitors. We hope that they found the visit beneficial, and are happy to support this initiative to foster understanding between Wales and Georgia.
